Day 63 Report

.Day 63- 28/7/07 - Louth Weir to Idalia

Steve's Report: Plenty achieved today, 53.4 km from Louth weir to a property called Idalia.

It is a farm stay site with superb showers. Even though they are on a permanent water hole this year the normal flow of people has not happened as the media portrayed the area as having no water. So, they copped a bit of a double wammy with drought and very few visitors.

The lump in the water in the centre of the image
is a cod feeding at the edge.I will play
with the photo when I get time and
see if I can zoom in on the cod
There were a few trees right across the river.
You wouldn't get past in a tinnie but no
problem with a kayak
My lunch spots seem to be getting worse
It looks deep enough but this is shallow. Even with
a flow, when the depth drops the speed goes
from standard flat water pace of 7.3kph to about
5kph and then when I hit bottom it is dead stop.
This happened a fair bit today so I was really
pleased with the total travelled
